Seth Shamon, M.Ac, L.Ac., Dip.Lac.
Seth Shamon, M.Ac, L.Ac, Dip.Lac, graduated from Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute) with his masters degree in acupuncture in 2015. At MUIH, his studies focused on Five Element acupuncture, a powerful & highly individualized tradition that treats the patient at the deepest root of the dis-ease to bring one into harmony and ease within oneself.
Seth uses acupuncture, moxibustion, Asian bodywork, Chinese herbs, wellness coaching, and dietary therapy to treat acute and chronic conditions. His specialties include sports medicine, acute and chronic pain of all sorts, headaches and migraines, and mental/emotional disharmonies. With that said, Chinese medicine is a holistic system of medicine, meaning it is capable of treating just about any ailment, through one or several of the modalities listed above. Seth will tailor an individualized treatment plan to best serve you.
His interest in Chinese medicine began while living in Portland, OR in 2011 after his undergraduate studies in philosophy and physics at American University. He was inspired by the depth and power of Chinese medicine in its ability to heal chronic and recalcitrant illnesses. In witnessing Chinese medicine’s blend of philosophy and science for the purpose of deep transformation and healing, Seth answered the call to pursue a lifetime of dedication to studying and sharing the medicine.
In addition to his master’s degree from MUIH, Seth has studied the teachings of several of the most prominent contemporary teachers of acupuncture: Dr. Tan, Master Tung, and Jeffrey Yuen. Seth also incorporates in his practice the style and teachings of JoseLo Gutierrez, with whom he has studied and worked since March 2014.
Seth is currently continuing his studies in Chinese herbal medicine at MUIH. In his spare time, Seth enjoys cycling, visiting hot springs and forests, traveling near and far, cooking, and studying/practicing the Dao.
